For all of you patient Tiny Roots website followers, thank you! We had to kick into high gear to get our house to a livable condition by October, which meant that writing blog posts fell off the priority list. If you follow on Facebook, you are up to date, but if not, this is the last few months in a nutshell.
We worked long hours through the summer and, thanks to the generosity of one of Travis’ co-workers, we found a place to park Tiny Roots. On October 25th, we officially moved into our tiny! We have spent the last several weeks getting all of our systems functional, preparing for winter, and finishing major elements inside. We now have running water, functional propane appliances, heat, and as of a couple weeks ago, a beautiful cork floor. We have plenty left to do, like building kitchen and bathroom shelving, installing trim, building a bathroom door, and creating a ladder to the lounge, but it is comfortable for now.
We have survived sub-zero temperatures and plenty of rain and snow and have enjoyed learning to live in our little house. While it has been frustrating and chaotic to move in before it’s completely finished, it has also given us a chance to really see how we tend to use the space. As we build our shelving, especially in the kitchen, we will have a much better idea where to effectively place the shelves.
As for the blog, we will back track and give more detailed information about all the steps we completed on our house, including some of the products we tried, the reclaimed materials we found, the move, and setting it up once in our new location. But for now, enjoy these updated pictures!
